Came to Marringhurst District in 1878. By 1879 had explored the district and knew the legal description of most quarters. He located farms for settlers (for a fee) using a map which he had created. Associated with many early settlers such as John Wilson and John Cumming. Moved to Neelin area. Established a sawmill. Sold that site (which would alter become the village of Neelin) to Joseph Neelin. Bought SW 19-3-14 from John Monague about 1896 – became site of Village of Neelin. First Justice of the Peace for area. In 1882 claimed land at Bru. Home served as Post Office – he was Postmaster until 1894 – son Albert Oliver took over until 1929 Donated Land For Bru Cemetery. Built Hola School. Organized the Bru Band (Bandmaster) and was Choirmaster of Bru Church. Oliver School named for him. Bru Hall built on his farm. Everett became close friends with Sigurdur Christopherson, Skafti Aranson, Kristjan Jonsson, John Taylor and others. In 1880 Everett was established in Pilot Mound he helped several of those friend find homes in Argyle. In 1881 his step-brother Henry Josiah Parsonage settled in Argyle on SW 30-6-13.
